Are you looking to open a business in Jerome-Gun Hill?
The Jerome-Gun Hill Business Improvement District is a vibrant retail commercial district serving Norwood residents and thousands of workers and visitor who come daily to the Montefiore Medical Center facilities. The district boasts a range of single and multi-family housing units, access to quality parks, and a balanced mix of retail and services.
Why We Are Special
The presence of the Montefiore Medical Center, located on E. Gun Hill Road right off Jerome Avenue, brings over 19,000 daily workers to the area, who constitute significant demand for goods and services in the district.
The Mosholu Parkway and the Norwood-205 Street subway stations bring riders to and from midtown in 35 minutes on the 4 and D trains. Additionally, the Williams Bridge Metro-North Railroad station serves residents and workers via the Harlem Line.
Retailers in our district benefit from Norwood’s residential density, with over 73,000 residents per square mile. 65% of residents live in family households and 30% of our residents are kids and teens.
Our residents and retailers enrich the community with a diverse mix of ethnicities. Over 60% of residents are Hispanics, and include Puerto Rican, Dominican, Mexican, Ecuadorian, among many others. They are attentive to style and look for branded clothing in the numerous local fashion stores that populate our district.
A neighborhood-oriented shopping district, Jerome-Gun Hill’s retailers are a balanced mix of traditional and contemporary apparel, services, food and beverage stores, casual dining establishments, and general and specialty merchandise at a moderate price point.
Retailers are located in one of the two retail microclimates that compose our district: a more convenience-oriented sub-district on East Gun Hill Road, between Bainbridge and Webster Avenues, and a large neighborhood sub-district, more comparison in nature, on Jerome Avenue between Mosholu Parkway and 212th Street. We are home to independent as well as regional and national chain retailers.
