Plastic Bag Ban and 

Paper Bag Reduction Fee

Go into effect

March 1st, 2020.

The New York State Bag Waste Reduction Act prohibits the distribution of plastic carryout

bags by retailers in New York state with limited exceptions.

Businesses affected by the plastic bag ban and paper carryout bag reduction fee should
make preparations ASAP. 

For more than 20 years, the BID has served hundreds of businesses ranging from small retail shops to local and national food and retail chains and banks. The BID is managed by the Mosholu Preservation Corporation (MPC), a support corporation of Montefiore Medical Center.

The Jerome Gun Hill BID serves one of the most ethnically diverse populations in the city. Our catchment area includes Jerome Avenue (between Mosholu Parkway and East 212th Street) and East Gun Hill Road (between Jerome and Webster Avenues).
